AEP meteorologists are monitoring a winter storm that is expected to reach across all of AEP Ohio’s service territory this weekend. While several inches of snow are likely to impact the entire state, predicted accumulations, moisture amounts and the track of the storm are evolving. We are on alert and ready to respond. If outages occur, please know our crews will work to get your power back on safely and as quickly as they can. Winter Weather Safety & Preparedness Tips
Review your emergency preparedness plan, refresh your emergency kit and include pets in your plans. Make sure the elderly or those with medical conditions have a plan in place.
Stay connected by enrolling in text alerts and following us on Facebook and X. Update your contact information at AEPOhio.com/Account.
Ice and snow? Take it slow. Vehicle accidents are a leading and often-preventable cause of power outages. Double your following distance and slow down when driving in winter weather conditions.
Heat your home safely. If using a space heater, place it on a hard, level surface out of high-traffic areas and at least 3 feet away from anything flammable, such as curtains and bedding. Turn off space heaters when you leave a room.
Stay Away to Stay Alive Remember, all downed lines are dangerous — they carry an electric current that can cause serious injuries or death. Stay as far away as possible from any fallen wire and anything it may be touching. Report hazards to 911 and AEP Ohio.
We strongly encourage customers with life-supporting medical equipment to have a backup power source and an alternate plan in the event of a power outage
