COVID-19 UPDATE March 23, 2020

To our Township Residents and surrounding neighbors,

We all find ourselves in extraordinary times and circumstances. We have been monitoring unprecedented daily changes in how we serve you, while protecting residents and our entire staff both here at the Township Hall and Fire Department locations from COVID-19 Virus. There have been daily and sometimes hourly guidelines changes and recommendations that we are following from CDC, State of Ohio, Stark County Health Department, and the Federal Government. In order for us to protect and contain the transmission of COVID-19, we will be following and implementing these precautionary measures effective immediately here at the Township Garage and Offices. These measures are subject to change with or without notice and will be updated as we receive more information about this virus.

Effective immediately and under State of Emergency Executive order 2020-01D signed by Governor Mike DeWine dated March 9 , 2020,

We will follow Ohio Attorney Generals Dave Yost Guidelines, that Dr. Amy Acton Director of Ohio Department of Health (ODH) recommendation of granting her supervisory authority over “all matters relating to the preservation of the life and health of the people” ORC.3703.13

This guideline further provides the ODH shall have “ultimate authority in matters of quarantine and isolation.”

Mass gatherings was addressed as over 100 people in a room later reduced to 50 people then to less than 10 people. Less than 10 people gathering also updated as part of Ohio Stay at home order to continue thru Friday May 1, 2020 to help stop the spread of COVID-19 Virus by Amy Acton, MD, MPH director of health.

Regardless of whether an event or gathering falls within the definition of mass gatherings, all persons are urged to maintain social distancing of 6 feet away from one another, whenever possible and to continue to wash hands, utilize hand sanitizer and practice proper respiratory etiquette ( coughing into your elbow ,etc.).

In the unprecedented circumstance, for the Township government to do Township Business the OMA’s “in person” requirement as permitting a member of a public body to appear at a public meetings via teleconference. This interpretation gives both R.C.121.22, R.C. 121.22 (C) and R.C.3701.13.

We will be conducting Trustee Meetings with the Public present and accommodating the public present at the meeting by following all social safe distances information in the Township hall Meeting room along with Mass gathering and safe distance rules, to help prevent the spread of this yet incurable virus. We will continue to digitally record all Meetings and make records available when requested along with written minutes as soon as possible while this State of Emergency order is in place. The Public is welcome to stop by the Township Office and Garage prior to meeting during normal business hours to submit verbally or written anything you would like to have discussed at the Trustee meetings and will be followed up with you by the Trustees or Fiscal Officer.

Zoning Meetings and Hearings will be rescheduled as guidelines are lifted.

We will be updating you as we receive information regarding these extraordinary circumstances with COVID-19 virus.
